A standing order for Mac audio

Your mic should know when the lid is shut.

Writ keeps your Mac on the audio devices that make sense, catches silent inputs, and shows you what your microphone is actually hearing.

Writ 1.2 for macOS 13 and later. Apple silicon and Intel.

How Writ helps

01 / LID

No more silent microphone.

The built-in mic still appears when a MacBook is closed, even though the hardware cannot hear you. Writ knows the difference and skips it.

02 / METER

See the room, not just your voice.

Peak, rolling average, and noise floor reveal whether your setup is clean before the call or recording starts. Audio is measured, then discarded.

03 / AIRPLAY

AirPlay survives reconnection.

macOS gives speakers temporary identities. Name one once and Writ remembers it without taking you off a speaker you chose on purpose.

Your audio stays on your Mac

A microphone utility with no appetite for your data.

No account. No analytics. Optional crash and failed-device-switch reports are off by default and contain only the error kind, Writ version, and macOS version. The level meter runs only while the input panel is open, and no audio is recorded or transmitted. Network requests expose your IP address and standard headers to the server.
